Representation for Felonies and Misdemeanors

  • Drug Crimes: There are three types of drug crimes that you may be convicted of, which include drug possession, drug trafficking, or drug manufacturing. Drug possession is typically the least serious conviction of the three types, and you may be convicted of this if you are caught with a controlled substance on your person (including in your vehicle). Drug trafficking is a more severe conviction and occurs when you are caught transporting illegal substances from a manufacturer to a distributor. Drug manufacturing is a conviction for having any part in creating or growing an illegal substance. Both drug trafficking and drug manufacturing convictions result in felony charges.
  • Assault: The facts of every assault case are different. Assault charges may result from a loss of self-control, self-defense, reacting under duress, etc. In an assault case, the prosecution must prove you knowingly or recklessly caused or attempted to cause serious physical harm to another person. For a negligent assault case, the prosecution must prove you negligently caused physical harm to another person by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance. For felonious assault, the prosecution must prove you knowingly caused serious physical harm to another person, or you knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to another person by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance. These charges can come with secondary consequences on areas of your life such as employment, professional licensing, and firearm ownership or possession.
  • Burglary: There are different burglary charges depending upon which state you're in and the facts of your case, but burglary convictions usually result in a felony charge with fines and incarceration. Some burglary convictions, such as aggravated burglary in Ohio, are classified as violent crimes that cannot be sealed or expunged from your record.
  • Sex Crimes: Sex crimes are any crimes that involve a sexual component. The sexual harm component may be actual or threatened harm, such as rape and sexual assault, or may be mental or emotional harm to a victim, such as in cases of child pornography.
  • Expungements: If you have ever been convicted of certain felonies or misdemeanors, they are likely on your permanent record. However, for certain convictions, after a certain number of years and upon completion of your sentence or probation, you may be eligible to have them taken off your record through expungement proceedings.
  • DUI/OVI: DUI/OVI occurs when you are operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol. These offenses may come with a conviction, resulting in mandatory fines, jail and/or prison time, and loss of driving privileges.
  • Traffic Violations: Traffic violations that you may need representation for include speeding tickets, reckless operation charges resulting from accidents, driving without a license, hitting and skipping/fleeing the scene, etc.
